15 injured in BNP factional clash in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, May 3: At least 15 people from both sides were injured in a clash between two BNP factions over fishing in an enclosure in the Bhaga Bazar area of Rampal Upazila of the district from Saturday night to Sunday noon.
 
The situation in the area was tense and police were deployed till writing this report. 
According to local sources, two people were caught on Saturday night over fishing in a disputed enclosure and taken to the BNP office in Bhaga Bazar and police were informed. 

The clash happened when some outsiders tried to rescue the detainees before police arrived. At that time, several establishments including the BNP office in the Bazar were vandalised and money was looted by the opposite side, claimed an injured of the one side Akbar Hossain Ako and Bazar Committee president. However, Shahidul Islam of the other side denied the vandalism. 

Former member secretary of the Upazila BNP Kazi Jahidul Islam claimed he was not present during the incident.  The Upazila BNP president said, "This is just a dispute regarding fishing. It is not a political issue. The matter has been informed to the State Minister."
