Two Bangladeshi nationals were killed by India's Border Security Force (BSF) along Kasba border in Brahmanbaria district.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) confirmed the matter in a press release on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Md Mursalin, 20, son of Khebju Mia of Batenbari village in Dhajnogor area, and Nabir Hossain, 40. Mursalin was an eleventh-grade student of Shah Alam Degree College, according to family members.

According to the press release, at least 15 Bangladeshi smugglers entered India with the help of Indian smugglers around 11:05PM on Friday. When they were returning with smuggling goods, a patrol team of BSF obstructed them. Then a scuffle ensued between them, which forced the BSF personnel to open fire on the gang, leaving two Bangladeshi nationals critically injured.

Of them, one succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital in Indian, while another died at the same hospital.

After the incident, the commander of the 60 BGB Sultanpur Battalion is in touch with the BSF command and working to bring the bodies back to Bangladesh.

At the same time, the process of sending a protest note to the BSF and organizing a flag meeting is underway.
