Man dies from electrocution in C’nawabganj

A man died after being electrocuted while working at a mango orchard in Chapainawabganj’s Gomastapur upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Amir, 48, son of Taslim Ali, a resident of Sonarpara village under Chowdala union in the upazila.

According to police and local sources, Amir was working at a mango orchard in Sonarpara area when an electric wire came into contact with a mango tree, electrifying it.

He was electrocuted after coming into contact with the tree and sustained critical injuries on the spot.

Later, locals rescued him and rushed him to Gomastapur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Gomastapur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nure Alam confirmed the death and said that the body has been handed over to the deceased’s family after taking legal proceedings.

An unnatural death case has been filed in this incident, added the OC.
