CUET holds training on 'Sanitation for Urban Low-Income Communities'

CHATTOGRAM, MAY 11: Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Civil Engineering Department in collaboration with the International Training Network of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) organized a training on 'Sanitation for Urban Low-Income Communities' concluded at the Civil Engineering Seminar Room on Monday.

CUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan addressed the training as the chief guest with Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engi-

neering Prof Dr. Asiful Haque in the chair.

Head of the Department of Civil Engineering of CUET, Prof Dr. Md. Riaz Akhter Mallick was present as special guest.

CUET VC said, "Conventional sanitation systems are becoming ineffective in many cases due to floods, water-logging, cyclones and salinity. Therefore, there is no alternative to building a sustainable sanitation system. We need climate-resilient sanitation infrastructure, improved and environmentally friendly latrine systems, waste reuse and resource recovery technologies, and sustainable urban management."

A total of 7 technical sessions were completed in the training.
