Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, ''If declaring Cumilla a division is truly a public demand, then it will be implemented.''

''Whenever the BNP makes promises to the people, it fulfills them once in government.''

The premier also said that steps would be taken regarding the establishment of an agricultural university in Cumilla after discussions with the education minister within a few days.

Speaking at a roadside rally held on Saturday at Laxmipur Bazar field in Barura upazila of Cumilla, the prime minister made these remarks after local representatives presented three long-standing demands, including declaring Cumilla a division and establishing an agricultural university.
