Two persons including a BNP leader were electrocuted in Naogaon and Bagerhat districts in two days.
NAOGAON: A young man was electrocuted in Shobhapur Village of Nitpur Union in Porsha Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
Deceased Tohorul Islam, 36, was the son of late Rabu Mistry of the village.
According to the deceased's family and police sources, for an electrical connection in a water pump in his new house, Tohorul Islam went to his brother's house nearby on Saturday at 6 am.
At that time, while working without disconnecting the power line, he was electrocuted. Family members took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared Tohorul dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Porsha Police Station (PS) Diaur Rahman said that the body was handed over to the family as there was no complaint from the family.
SARANKHOLA, BAGERHAT: A BNP leader was electrocuted in Amragachhia-Singbari Village of Dhansagar Union in Sarankhola Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
The deceased Raihan Uddin Sumon Sardar, 42, was the son of late Abul Kalam Sardar of the village and the organising secretary of Dhansagar Union BNP. He was also the director of the General Grameen Hospital located at Panchrasta intersection in the upazila headquarters.
Family and party sources said that Sumon Sardar was electrocuted in his house alone. Hearing his scream, his wife came and found him lying unconscious on the floor.
He was taken to Sarankhola Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead. However, it was not immediately confirmed how he was electrocuted.
Sarankhola PS OC Md Shaminul Haque confirmed the death.
Meanwhile, Upazila BNP President Anwar Hossain Panchayat and General Secretary Bellal Hossain Milon expressed deep shock over the death of Sumon Sardar.
