
GAZIPUR, June 9: A day-long training programme titled “Strategic Human Resource Management and Office Administration” was organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) at BOU Teachers’ Conference Hall on Tuesday.
BOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan was present as the chief guest at the event. In his speech, he said, “In this era of the fourth industrial revolution, artificial intelligence and technology-based changes, just obtaining an institutional degree is not enough; regular skill development, self-improvement and acquiring new knowledge are essential to survive. Training plays an important role in improving the work efficiency, leadership qualities, communication skills and quality of service of a professional.”
Emphasising the acquisition of soft skills along with technical knowledge, he said that organisational success depends on the efficiency, honesty, sense of responsibility and professional commitment of the officers and employees. Highlighting the importance of human resource development in modern administrative management, he mentioned the need for regular training to build an efficient, accountable and technology-based administration.
The programme was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Dr Mohammad Zahir Raihan. He said that strategic human resource management and effective office administration are one of the main components of quality development of an organization. Such training will play an important role in enhancing the professional skills and administrative capacity of the participants. In addition, the university’s Registrar (Acting) TM Ahmed Hussain spoke at the event.
The resource persons were Dr Mohammad Zahir Raihan, professor of the School of Business, and Md Shahidul Islam Fakir, professor of the Department of Management, Jagannath University.
At the closing ceremony, Additional Director of IQAC Dr Mohammad Zakir Hossain Talukder expressed his gratitude. Additional Director of IQAC and Professor of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages Dr Saima Ahmed moderated the programme.
