The license controversy involving Ad-din Hospital in Maghbazar has escalated after the hospital’s lawyer Advocate Shishir Monir claimed that the authorities actually cancelled the license of its pathology centre, not the hospital itself.
In a social media post on Friday, he said the show-cause notice issued on June 4 cited license number HSM 4310059, which belongs to the pathology laboratory, while the hospital’s license number is HSM 4310058. He further argued that the institution operates under two separate approvals for hospital and laboratory services. However, officials of the Health Directorate rejected the claim, saying the order clearly refers to the hospital’s license cancellation. Director of Hospital and Clinic Services Dr. Abu Hossain Moinul Ahsan said the notice was unambiguous and added that inspections would be conducted to verify the matter.Earlier, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof. Dr. Prabhat Chandra Biswas stated that the hospital’s license was cancelled under the Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982 after its response to the show-cause notice was found unsatisfactory. He warned that patients should avoid treatment in unlicensed facilities.
