A Dhaka court on Wednesday conducted a partial hearing on charge framing in a treason case filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 285 others and fixed July 14 for the continuation of the proceedings.
The order was passed by Md. Moin Uddin Chowdhury, Judge of the Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court of Dhaka.
According to court sources, 26 accused currently in custody were produced before the court during the hearing. Of them, 21 were men and five were women. The accused were placed in the dock as the charge hearing commenced in their presence.
During the proceedings, defence lawyers representing several accused, including Sabina Akter Tuhin, concluded their arguments seeking discharge from the case. The court also allowed time petitions submitted on behalf of several other defendants, resulting in the hearing being adjourned until July 14 for the remaining arguments on charge framing.
