Three more people died of dengue in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 70 this year. During the same period, 805 new patients were hospitalised with dengue.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a press release issued on Sunday. It said that two deaths occurred between 8am Saturday and 8am Sunday. During this period, 805 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals, taking the total number of dengue patients hospitalised this year to 23,978. A total of 22,159 patients have been discharged so far, including 701 in the last 24 hours.
An analysis of division-wise data showed that Dhaka recorded the highest number of new admissions, with 417 patients, in the past 24 hours. Besides, 80 patients were admitted in Barishal, 82 in Chattogram, 97 in Khulna, 65 in Mymensingh, 55 in Rajshahi, 7 in Rangpur and two in Sylhet.
