World No Tobacco Day observed at Gangachara

GANGACHARA, RANGPUR, June 23: On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day-2026, the Gangachara Upazila Administration organised a discussion meeting with the theme “Unveiling the Mask of Attraction: Combating Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction” on Tuesday.

The meeting was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jasmine Akhter at her office.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Hamidul Islam, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abu Md Alemul Bashar, Agriculture Officer Rubel Hossain, Upazila Jamaat Ameer Nayebul Islam, Laxmitari UP Chairman Abdullah Al Hadi and others spoke at the meeting.

The speakers at the meeting said that the use of tobacco products is harmful to individuals, families and society. Everyone must work together to increase public awareness about the dangers of tobacco and protect the young generation from its harm. In addition, emphasis was placed on taking effective steps to implement the Tobacco Control Act.
