Zimbabwe continued to tighten their grip on the one-off Test in Harare, reaching 325 for 5 during the second session on Day 2 to take a commanding 185-run first-innings lead over Bangladesh’s total of 140.
Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 140 after being asked to bat first. Mominul Haque top-scored with 60 and shared a 77-run third-wicket partnership with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. However, the tourists suffered a dramatic collapse, losing their last eight wickets for just 27 runs after being well placed at 113 for 2.
In reply, Zimbabwe’s batters dominated the Bangladesh bowlers for most of the innings. At 325 for 5 with the second session still in progress, the hosts remain firmly in control and are well placed to build a substantial first-innings lead.
Bangladesh will need quick wickets to prevent Zimbabwe from extending their advantage further before attempting a fightback in their second innings.
