NOAKHALI, July 5:  Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old man in Noakhali's Begumganj, allegedly over an extortion demand.

The arrests were confirmed on Sunday by Md Muhit Kabir Serniabat, additional superintendent of police and company commander of Rab-11, CPC-3, Noakhali.

The arrestees -- Suman and Piyas, both residents of Khanpur Village under Sharifpur Union -- were detained from Dhaka's Rampura and Badda areas on Saturday.

According to RAB, the victim, Zobayer Hossain, alias Rakib, was attacked after he failed to meet a Tk 20 lakh extortion demand linked to the construction of a five-storey building by his father and uncle.

Rakib's mother filed a murder case with Begumganj Police Station.
