Bandarban tourists stranded by floods return safely to Thanchi

Around 90 tourists stranded in the Nafakhum and Amiyakhum areas of Thanchi upazila in Bandarban due to heavy rainfall and flash floods have been rescued and brought back safely to Thanchi sadar.

The tourists reached Thanchi by boat via Remakri and Padmamukh around 4:00pm on Tuesday.

Former general secretary of the Thanchi Tourist Guide Association, Mamunur Rashid, said the rescue operation was carried out under the direction of the upazila administration. A team of experienced guides, equipped with life jackets and other safety gear, rescued the stranded tourists and transported them to Thanchi in phases by boat.

Thanchi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Abdul Al Faisal said all tourists stranded in the Nafakhum and Amiyakhum areas had been brought back safely. He added that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and will continue taking necessary measures.
