The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has instructed authorities concerned to submit information on head teachers and assistant teachers who are absent from government primary schools across the country without authorised leave.

The directive, issued by the DPE's Policy and Operation Division on Tuesday, asked officials to send the information to the designated email address within seven working days.

According to the directive, the information is being sought in line with the Right to Information Act, 2009.

The DPE has asked for the number of male and female head teachers and assistant teachers absent without permission, specifying separately those who have been absent for up to two years and those absent for more than two years.
