9 year old girl allegedly raped by neighbor in Gazipur, case filed
A nine year old girl was reported raped by neighbor while delivering a piece of cloth to his house in Gazipur, Kaliganj upazila.
The victim’s father filed a case at Kaliganj Police Station on Wednesday (July 8) against the accussed neighbor. Treatment is underway regarding the victim at a hospital.
According to the complaint filed at the police station, a housewife in the upazila’s Jangalia union worked part-time in tailoring alongside her household chores. The wife of the accussed Hanif Dewan gave her a piece of cloth for stitching.
Complaint stated that on June 18, around 4:00 P.M. the nine year old daughter was sent to the accuser’s house to return the garment. Hanif Dewan (40) took advantage of the empty home, the child was escorted to bedroom and was raped by force. He then threatened the child not to disclose the incident and sent her home.
According to the family statement, out of fear and shock, the child did not disclose the incident to anyone. However, she soon fell ill after the incident. As her condition did not improve despite having treatment, she was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital on July 7.
During a questioning by the doctors, the child revealed the allegation of rape. The family was informed; a written complaint was immediately filed with the police.
The victim is currently admitted to hospital and undergoing treatment.
OC of Kaliganj Police Station, Md Zakir Hossain said, a written complaint has been filed in relation with the incident. The victim has been sent for medical examination and operation is ongoing to detain the accused.
