Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School will celebrate its 60th anniversary on December 18 with a grand global reunion of former students at the school campus in Dhaka.
The announcement was made on Saturday at a press conference organised by the Dhanmondi Ex-Students Association (DExSA).
Legendary singer Ferdous Wahid (Batch '69) and Syed Hasanur Rahman Hasan (Batch '86), lead vocalist of the rock band ARK, attended the event alongside members of the DExSA ad hoc committee.
Organisers said the reunion is expected to be the largest gathering of the school's alumni, bringing together former students from Bangladesh and abroad.
As part of the celebration, DExSA will establish a Hall of Fame to honour former teachers and recognise distinguished alumni for their contributions in fields including medicine, engineering, public service, business, arts and entrepreneurship. Senior alumni and retired teachers will also be felicitated.
The anniversary programme will feature live performances by Ferdous Wahid and Hasan, both of whom will perform at their alma mater.
Speaking at the event, Ferdous Wahid said performing at the school that shaped his early life would be one of the most memorable moments of his career. Hasan said returning to perform at his alma mater would be a meaningful way to give back to the institution.
DExSA Convener Ehtesham H Khan said the celebration is aimed at reconnecting alumni and honouring the school's six-decade legacy. Member Secretary Mahfuz Bin Yusuf expressed hope that the event would unite former students from around the world and become a landmark occasion in the institution's history.
Established in 1965, Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School has produced thousands of graduates who have gone on to serve in diverse professions at home and abroad.
