Nur looks askance at word ‘National’ in NCP name

State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Nurul Haque Nur has questioned the use of the word National in the name of the National Citizen Party (NCP), alleging that it reflects an ‘authoritarian mindset’.

Speaking to reporters recently, Nur argued that the term national represents the entire country and should not be appropriated by any single political party. What does 'national' mean Everyone recognises the jackfruit as our national fruit. Everyone recognises hilsa as our national fish. Everyone recognises the Royal Bengal Tiger as our national animal. Everyone salutes our national flag, he said.
