Fertiliser dealer fined at Birol

BIROL, DINAJPUR, July 13: A BCIC-approved fertiliser dealer has been sentenced in a mobile court for illegally transporting fertiliser in Birol Upazila of the district.

Locals caught the BCIC dealer M/s Babul & Brothers in Bhandara Union No. 6 of the upazila while transporting fertiliser from his shop in Rampur Bazar to another place on Sunday morning. Later, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Md Rezaul Islam fined the dealer Tk 5,000, in default, to serve 15 days in jail.

He also ordered the supply of the seized fertilisers to local farmers at the price fixed by the government in the presence of the Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer. Upazila Agriculture Officer Rumman Akhter was present at the time.
