Argentina's probable starting XI ahead of their World Cup semi-final against England has been revealed by sports outlet Ole. According to the outlet, there are indications of changes in several positions in the Albiceleste squad.
Coach Lionel Scaloni is considering playing Gonzalo Montiel in place of Nahuel Molina on the right wing. There is also a possibility of playing experienced Nicolas Otamendi in place of Nicolas Tagliafico on the left wing. However, a final decision has not yet been made on these two positions.
Emiliano Martinez will be under the goalposts. Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez will be at center-back.
In midfield, Rodrigo de Paul, Juliano Simeone or Exequiel Palacios are likely to be joined by Leandro Paredes, Enzo Fernandez and Alexis McAllister. In attack, captain Lionel Messi is joined by Julian Alvarez, who is being heavily relied on by coach Scaloni after scoring a brilliant goal in the quarter-finals.
But this is not the official XI. Coach Scaloni has also hinted at changes. Before the match, he said, "I have the team in mind, but I haven't told the players yet. We can think of some changes, but the aim will be to put pressure on the opponent and protect ourselves from their strong points. Let's see what changes can be made."
Defending champions Argentina will face England in the World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday (July 15) at 1am. The winner of today's match will face Spain in the title fight.
