Argentine captain Lionel Messi has posted an emotional message on Instagram praising his squad prior to the World Cup final against Spain. Yahoo sports confirmed.
The 39-year-old veteran forward shared a group photo of the entire national squad of Argentina, coaches and management staff.
Messi stated in his post ‘Whatever happens tomorrow, this group has already written a story that we will never forget and that nobody can erase. VAMOS ARGENTINA.’
The reigning World Cup champions Argentina are set to face the European champions Spain on Sunday (Local Bangladesh time: Monday at 1:00AM). The high-voltage final will take place in East Rutherford, located near New York.
This current crop of Argentine players secured the Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024. Before these consecutive achievements, Messi had spent 16 years with the national side without winning a major trophy.
‘The best thing about all these years has never been just the titles, but the whole journey. Sharing day-to-day life with this group, competing together, pulling ourselves up through the difficult times and enjoying every step of the way,’ the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner wrote.
The football icon expressed his deep gratitude to his colleagues and the management in his concluding remarks. He thanked his teammates, the coaching panel, and the support staff for keeping the national squad united as a family.
