Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the 'Jatiya Matsya Pakshya' at Katiadi here, said State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku.

Speaking at a preparatory meeting in Kishoreganj on Sunday, Tuku said the event is being organised in Katiadi as the Greater Mymensingh region contributes nearly 40 percent of the country's total fish production, reports BSS News.

He said the initiative aims to highlight the potential, achievements and contributions of fish farmers and entrepreneurs in the region.

Earlier, the programme was held in Dhaka, but this year it was shifted to an area with significant fisheries production and entrepreneurship.

Tuku said this would be the Prime Minister's first visit to Kishoreganj after the election and described the national-level event outside Dhaka as a significant occasion for the district.

He urged the administration, lawmakers and local stakeholders to work together to make the programme successful.

The meeting was attended by lawmakers, district administration officials, police officials and representatives from different government departments.
