
Dhaka University has suspended three teachers, including sociology Prof Sadeka Halim, over allegations of “unacademic behaviour and moral misconduct”. The other two suspended teachers are Prof Md Shafiqul Islam and Prof Afroza Shelley from nuclear engineering.
The university syndicate also decided to bar four more teachers from all academic and administrative responsibilities over separate allegations.
The three other academics involved are Prof Abu Shara Shamsur Rauf of pharmaceutical technology, Prof Md Rafiqul Islam (Rafiq Shahriar) of peace and conflict studies, and Prof Mohammad Bahauddin of Persian language and literature.
The decisions were announced in a statement issued by the university’s public relations office following a Syndicate meeting on Tuesday.
Speaking to bdnews24.com over the suspension of Prof Sadeka and two other teachers, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Abdus Salam said that individual allegations and separate committees had been set up for each of the suspended academics. Fact-finding committees will be formed first, followed by formal investigation committees.�" bdnews24
