Tuku plans to clean DC Lake in Tangail

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku on Friday announced plans to clean DC Lake in Tangail and develop it into a mini tourism centre.

He said DC Lake is not only a popular recreation spot but also an important part of the beauty and environment of Tangail town. He urged everyone to play a responsible role in keeping the lake clean and protecting its natural beauty.

The State Minister made the remarks while speaking to reporters after inaugurating a programme to remove long-accumulated waste and restore the beauty of the lake.

Tuku said the entire lake will be cleaned in phases. He added that there is also a plan to develop DC Lake as a mini tourism centre and transform the nearby char area into a large tourism destination.

He said the government also plans to introduce fish farming in the lake so that local people can benefit from it. Necessary initiatives are already being taken to implement the project, he added.
