Israel claims killing two Hamas commanders in Gaza

The Israeli military has claimed that two Hamas commanders were killed in separate airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Salem Jamal Abd al-Rahman Abu Labad, described as a cell commander in Hamas’s Nukhba special forces, was killed in an airstrike in southern Gaza on Saturday.

The IDF alleged that Abu Labad took part in the October 2023 attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz in southern Israel.

In a separate statement, the Israeli military said Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, commander of Hamas’s Maghazi Battalion, was killed in an airstrike in the al-Maghazi area of central Gaza on Friday.

Hamas had not immediately commented on the Israeli claims.
