Pacific Jeans Group, one of Bangladesh's largest garment exporters, has announced a temporary shutdown of its nine factories located in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) due to a severe gas shortage.

A press release, signed by the group's General Manager, Anwarul Islam, confirmed the decision on Wednesday (August 5).

According to the statement, acute shortages of gas and electricity in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone have severely disrupted production activities across all departments, including sewing and washing units.

As a result, the company said it has become impossible to continue normal factory operations. Therefore, all production and other operational activities at the nine factories will remain suspended from August 5 to August 7.
