18-year-old youth found hanging in Ctg's Hathazari

Police recovered the hanging body of an 18-year-old youth from Hathazari upazila of Chattogram on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Ismail Sikder, son of expatriate Ayub Sikder of Himmat Sikder Bari in Ward No. 4 of Mekhal Union.

Police recovered the body from his home at around 10:30pm on Saturday (August 8).

According to local sources, Ismail worked for a Wi-Fi service provider in the Chowdhuryhat area of Chikandandi Union.

They said he was found hanging at his home when no other family members were present. Local residents claimed he may have taken the step following a failed relationship.

On receiving the information, Sub-Inspector Uttam of Hathazari Model Police Station, along with other police personnel, went to the scene.

Police prepared an inquest report and sent the body to the morgue of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Sub-Inspector Uttam, who led the recovery operation, confirmed the incident and said the exact cause of death would be known after receiving the autopsy report.

Sabuj, the concerned Union Parishad member, also confirmed the death as a suicide.
