No students pass in five Naogaon madrasas

 
NAOGAON, Aug 12: None of the students from five madrasas in Naogaon passed this year's Dakhil examinations, the equivalent of the SSC examinations, whose results were published on Monday.

The five institutions are Bara Gundail Dakhil Madrasa, Ganguria Islamia Dakhil Madrasa, Anantapur Dakhil Madrasa and Kalinagar Saraigachhi Women’s Dakhil Madrasa in Porsha Upazila, and Chaknodbati Islamia Dakhil Madrasa in Patnitala Upazila.

At Bara Gundail Dakhil Madrasa, all 16 examinees failed. Similarly, none of the 13 examinees from Ganguria Islamia Dakhil Madrasa, nine from Anantapur Dakhil Madrasa, six from Kalinagar Saraigachhi Women’s Dakhil Madrasa and 19 from Chaknodbati Islamia Dakhil Madrasa passed.

Ismail Hossain, Superintendent of Chaknodbati Islamia Dakhil Madrasa, said the result was disappointing and embarrassing.

“As the institution is located in a remote area, most students did not attend classes regularly. This contributed to the poor result. We tried our best, but our efforts did not produce the desired outcome,” he said.

Naogaon District Education Officer Shahadat Hossain said show-cause notices would be issued to the heads of the institutions where no students passed.

“We will also inspect these institutions and recommend necessary action to the higher authorities based on our findings,” he said.

According to the district education office, a total of 21,456 students from Naogaon appeared for the SSC examinations under the Rajshahi Education Board this year. Of them, 13,289 passed, with a pass rate of 62.49 per cent, while 1,739 secured GPA-5.

Under the Madrasa Education Board, 5,955 students appeared for the Dakhil examinations, with 2,511 passing, giving a pass rate of 42.16 per cent. A total of 41 students secured GPA-5.
