Dhaka administration hands over 28 land compensation cheques

The Dhaka district administration has handed over compensation cheques directly to 28 affected traders in Atibazar, Keraniganj, to reduce their hassle in receiving land acquisition payments.

The cheques were distributed at a programme on Saturday (September 19) under a project to construct a new RCC bridge in place of the existing narrow and dilapidated Bailey Bridge.

Keraniganj UNO Umar Faruk presided over the programme, while BNP National Standing Committee member and local lawmaker Amanullah Aman attended as the chief guest. Additional Deputy Commissioner (LA) Mohammad Shamim Hossain represented the Dhaka deputy commissioner.

Amanullah Aman praised the quick distribution of the cheques, saying people should not have to visit offices repeatedly to receive compensation.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Hossain said the district administration was working to provide quick and transparent services to those affected by land acquisition.

“We have to ensure that ordinary people do not suffer over legitimate matters,” he said.

Shahin Mia, one of the cheque recipients, said they were relieved to receive the compensation through a quick and transparent process.
