The Department of English at East West University (EWU), in association with the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB), organised a seminar on higher education opportunities in Japan at the EWU Manzur Elahi Auditorium on Sunday.
The seminar was titled 'Unlock Your Global Future: Research & Study in Japan'.
EWU Board of Trustees Chairperson Prof Dr Mohammed Farashuddin attended the event as the chief guest. JUAAB President Dr ATM Zafrul Azam was the special guest, while Prof Dr Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar attended as the guest of honour. EWU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shams Rahman chaired the seminar.
A delegation of Japanese academics and education professionals presented during technical sessions.
Speakers included Prefectural University of Hiroshima Dean Prof Shinjiro Ogita, Okayama University of Science Director Prof Hiroki Hamada, Tokai University Associate Prof Miwa Abe, Visiting Prof Yoshio Maeda, Naase Viita Co Ltd Prof Daizo Kudo, and Study Japan Director Mr Kamamoto.
They discussed contemporary research trends, English-taught degree programmes, Japanese language preparation, and methods for contacting university supervisors.
They also offered guidance on pursuing Master's and PhD programmes, drafting research proposals, and preparing for careers and employment in Japan.
An open question-and-answer session allowed students and faculty members to interact directly with the visiting Japanese experts.
