An alleged mobile snatcher was detained by Ansar members while attempting to flee after snatching a pedestrian’s mobile phone at the main gate of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital (NICVD) in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around Wednesday afternoon when Ansar member Anik Basu Rocky, 26, allegedly caught the suspect during a swift operation after the mobile phone was snatched. An agitated crowd then attempted to assault the suspect.
Ansar personnel led by Platoon Commander (PC) Aminul Haque, including Anik Sheikh, Hasan, Suman and Anik Basu, rescued the suspect from the crowd and handed him over to the hospital authorities.
The victim reportedly declined to file a case, citing concerns over legal complications. Following instructions from the hospital authorities, a written undertaking was obtained in the presence of the suspect’s family, after which he was handed over to his relatives.
Ansar and Village Defence Force members regularly perform security duties at government hospitals across the country to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and hospital staff.
