Five people, including a 10-month-old infant patient were injured as patient-carrying ambulance overturned in Dhaka-Mawa expressway.
The accident occurred around 11:30PM on Thursday (August 20) in the Mawa-bound lane of the expressway in Hasara area under Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj.
The injured were identified as infant patient Manha, 10 months, Jyoti, 28, from Khulna, Lucky Akhtar, 45, ambulance driver Hira, 40, from Bagerhat, and Mashiur Rahman, 45.
Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Muhammad Safiqul Islam said Srinagar Fire Station received news of the accident via the national emergency service 999 around 11:30 PM.
A rescue team rushed to the spot and rescued all five injured passengers from the overturned vehicle.
He added that reckless driving caused the ambulance to lose control, crash into the road railing, and flip over.
Rescuers sent the injured to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment.
Fire service sources confirmed that the ambulance was heading towards Khulna carrying a patient from Dhaka Shishu Hospital.
