Speeding truck kills BGB member in Bogura

A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) man died following an accident with a truck while crossing the road in the Mokamtala area of Bogura on Saturday morning (August 22).

The victim has been identified as Md Rafiqul Islam, aged 56, son of Kofil Uddin Sarker of Panthapara village of Rajarhat upazila, Kurigram. He was a member of 14 BGB battalion based in Patnitala, Naogaon.

Rafiqul was traveling home on leave along with a colleague. They came down from a bus at Mokamtala Bazar and while crossing the road, a fast-moving truck hit the victim, resulting in his instant death.

Md Raich Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kundarhat Highway Police Station, said that police immediately reached there upon learning about the incident and collected the dead body of the victim. The body was taken to the mortuary of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital of Bogura.

The OC added that the family has been informed. Police are trying to trace the truck driver. Legal process has started.
