A Dhaka court on Sunday placed 15 people on one-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act over an alleged plan to carry out sabotage in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area centering on August 15.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Riyad Hasan passed the order after a hearing. The investigation officer had sought seven days remand for each accused.

According to the case documents, police raided a flat in Bashundhara on August 13 and detained 52 people. Police alleged that some of them were affiliated with the banned Awami League and its associate organisations and had gathered to plan sabotage and terrorist activities.

Police said they seized two iPhones, a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and three banners from the flat. The banners mentioned programmes marking August 15.

A case was filed with Vatara Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Earlier, on August 19, 15 others, including Jubo League leaders Motalib and Mehezabeen Akter Malas, were placed on three-day remand in the same case.
