Former UP member hacked, dies in Bogura

A former UP member was killed in a hacking attack by three men in Ashokola area of Bogura Sadar Upazila around 11 PM on Sunday (August 23) while he was returning home from a market.

The victim was identified as Saiful Islam, who was once a member of Nunagola UP.

According to sources, Saiful was going back home after having tea with his nephew at Baghopara Bazar. When passing near Ashokola Bridge, three men stopped their motorcycle and, since they knew each other, began to talk, but an argument started between them.

Later, the men took Saiful to a roadside field and hacked him with sharp weapons. He was rescued and admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Speaking to the media, Sadar PS OC Ibrahim Ali revealed that the identities of the three attackers have been ascertained.
