The 92nd death anniversary of famed Bengali composer, lyricist and singer Atul Prasad Sen will be observed today on August 26. Atul Prasad Sen passed away on August 26, 1934 in Lucknow, India.
Sen, who was born in Dhaka on October 20, 1871, was also a lawyer, social worker and author. Sen introduced thumri form of song in Bengali song compositions. He created around 208 songs of which he was the composer as well.
His most popular song “Moder Gorob, Moder Asha, A-Mori Bangla Bhasha” was an everlasting source of inspiration during the Language Movement of 1952 and Liberation War of 1971.
Many cultural organisations and music lovers are celebrating his death anniversary through various programmes.
