Russia plans to deploy 600,000 troops in Ukraine

Moscow is continuing its “special military operation” in Ukraine after Kyiv failed to accept Russia’s demands for a peaceful resolution to the war, which has been ongoing for more than four years. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters about the matter.

Peskov said, “Kyiv is very well aware of our demands. But they do not want to discuss them peacefully. Therefore, we are continuing our efforts to maintain the positive momentum that is currently favorable to us on the front lines.”

Regarding the continuation of the special military operation, Ukrainian intelligence reports indicate that Russia is preparing for a new military mobilization in 2026-2027.

According to a report cited by the Office of the President of Ukraine, Russian authorities are planning to recruit 300,000 people this year and another 300,000 next year-bringing the total to 600,000 new troops.

According to The Kyiv Post, Ukraine claims that Russia’s political leadership is considering the new mobilization because of the loss of initiative on the battlefield, rising troop casualties on the front lines, and a significant decline in contract-based military recruitment in various regions.

The presidential office further stated that Russian military casualties reached approximately 240,000 between January and July 2026. During the same period, 232,000 people reportedly joined the Russian occupying forces through contract-based recruitment.

Ukrainian intelligence claims that the training period for mobilized personnel could range from 15 to 60 days, depending on their previous military training and their suitability for potential deployment positions.
