The identity of the man, whose body was found from the Dhaka Elevated Expressway with his mouth taped shut, has been revealed.
It has been found that the deceased was Ismail Hossain, 50, son of Jalal Uddin of Jamalpur Sadar upazila, residing in Konabari, Gazipur.
According to the officer-in-charge (OC) of Banani Police Station, Faridul Islam, his identity has been confirmed through fingerprint verification. The preliminary investigation found that Ismail was unemployed.
His relatives have been informed from Jamalpur regarding his identification. CCTV camera footage from the expressway has been checked and several suspicious vehicles have been found. Ismail has been strangled to death and his body has been thrown into the expressway from any of those vehicles. His body will be found if the vehicles can be stopped, OC added.
The body of Ismail has been found from the expressway in the Banani area at about 8:45 AM on Friday as the body of a dead man without any identity. His mouth was taped and he was wearing a blue colored shirt looking similar to that of CNG-rickshaw driver with lungi.
His body has been kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
