Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a massive quantity of homemade liquor, raw materials, and production equipment during a raid on an illegal distillery in Kaptai upazila of Rangamati on Sunday (September 6).
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) conducted the operation at around 9:30 AM in the Bairagi Para area under the Kukimarapara BGB camp's jurisdiction.
The raid was led by 41 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kawsar Mehedi and supervised by Naib Subedar Mohammad Ibrahim.
During the drive, BGB personnel discovered an ownerless illegal distillery and seized three power generators, 12 plastic drums, 150 aluminum pots, three jars of chemical agents, and 30 litres of freshly brewed local liquor.
Additionally, troops confiscated 1,500 litres of raw materials stored for liquor manufacturing.
According to 41 BGB, the total value of the seized goods and equipment is estimated at around Tk 5.91 lakh.
Authorities confirmed that police will destroy the seized alcohol and manufacturing tools, while preparations are underway to file a regular case against the individuals involved in the illegal operation.
