The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been given another month to submit its further investigation report in the murder case of Primeasia University student and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Jahidul Islam Parvez in Dhaka’s Banani.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah on Monday fixed October 7 as the new date after CID failed to submit the report.
The court had ordered the CID to conduct a further investigation on August 4 following a no-confidence petition filed by the victim’s cousin and case complainant, Humayun Kabir.
According to the case documents, a clash broke out between students of the university’s English and Textile Engineering departments on April 19, 2025. Parvez (24), a third-year Textile Engineering student, was allegedly stabbed during the clash and later died.
Banani police submitted a charge sheet on April 29 against nine people, including two women. However, the complainant challenged the investigation, particularly the recommendation to discharge eight others for lack of evidence.
Following the complainant’s petition, the court ordered the CID to conduct a further investigation into the case.
