State minister inaugurates new mini stadium in Araihazar

The Araihazar Upazila Mini Stadium in Narayanganj was inaugurated on Wednesday, with Youth and Sports State Minister Md Aminul Haque saying the government has begun searching for sporting talent at the grassroots level through the “Notun Kuri Sports” programme.
Haque inaugurated the stadium at a ceremony attended by local political leaders and sports officials.
Speaking as the chief guest, the state minister said the initiative aims to engage young people in sports and provide them with a healthy environment free from drugs.
Narayanganj-2 MP Nazrul Islam Azad, the chief speaker at the event, said Araihazar has many talented athletes who cannot travel to Dhaka or elsewhere for training because of financial difficulties.
“I promise to stand by these players on behalf of the BNP and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman,” he said.
Rakibul Islam Rakib, chairman of the Mostafizur Rahman Foundation, urged the authorities to support underprivileged athletes in Araihazar.
“Most people in Araihazar are financially disadvantaged, leaving many talented players neglected. I request the state minister to pay attention to their needs,” he said.
District Commissioner Md Raihan Kabir chaired the programme.
The mini stadium was built under a project implemented by the National Sports Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Officials hope it will create new opportunities for local athletes.
