Apratim killing reflects law and order deterioration: Golam Parwar

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has said the tragic death of 13-year-old Apratim reflects the grave deterioration of the country’s law and order situation.

In a statement on Saturday (September 19), Parwar expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of Apratim, the only son of Cumilla University Associate Professor Dr Nahida Begum and KM Firoz Shahriar.

He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

“Apratim had left home to spend some happy moments taking photographs with his friends, but he was not allowed to return alive,” Parwar said, describing the incident as deeply distressing.

He said the tragedy was not merely a matter of grief for one family but also a serious warning for society. If a child cannot safely leave home and return, questions naturally arise over the safety of people’s lives and property, he added.

Parwar called for a prompt, impartial and professional investigation into the death to determine what happened, who was involved and whether any criminal gang or other factor was behind the incident.

He also urged the authorities to ensure that no innocent person is harassed while the actual perpetrators are brought to justice through due legal process.
