Four more people died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths this year to 1,057, including 101 confirmed measles deaths and 956 deaths involving measles symptoms.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its regular health bulletin on Sunday.
According to the bulletin, two of the four deaths in the past 24 hours were reported in Dhaka division. During the same period, 1,236 new patients with measles or measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Of them, 513 were admitted in Dhaka division, 30 in Rajshahi, 145 in Sylhet, 284 in Chattogram, 114 in Barishal, 54 in Mymensingh, 70 in Khulna and 26 in Rangpur.
According to DGHS data, a total of 179,814 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15. Of them, 152,225 have received treatment and been discharged.
Since March 15, the number of suspected measles cases has reached 175,198, while 20,562 cases have been confirmed as measles, according to the DGHS.
