Two juveniles sent to Tongi child development centre in Apratim murder case

Two juveniles arrested in the murder case of Cumilla schoolboy Eshayat Shahriar Apratim have been sent to the Child Development Centre (Boys) in Tongi, Gazipur.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder. The other two accused have been sent to Cumilla Central Jail.

The two juveniles were brought to the Child Development Centre at around 4:00 PM on Monday, said its superintendent Md Emran Khan.

The centre authorities said the two boys are aged 15 and 16. As they are minors, they were sent to the child development centre instead of jail following a court order.

Earlier, three people, including the prime accused Saiful Islam alias Tuhin, 19, were arrested in the case. Later, another 19-year-old man, Md Siam, was arrested as a suspect.

When the four accused were produced before the court, it ordered the two juveniles to be sent to the Tongi Child Development Centre and the other two to Cumilla Central Jail, considering their ages.

Apratim was the only child of Nahida Begum, an associate professor of Bangla at Cumilla University. He was a Class VII student at Cumilla Border Guard Public School.

Apratim went missing last Friday after leaving his rented home in the Gandhamati area of Kotbari, Cumilla. His body was recovered the following afternoon from a forested area in Lalmai Hill in Sananda village of Sadar Dakshin upazila.
