GPF, CPF profit rates unchanged for FY2026-27

The government has kept the profit rates on the General Provident Fund (GPF) and Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) unchanged for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The Finance Ministry issued a gazette notification on Monday, retaining the existing slab-based rates of 13, 12 and 11 per cent.

Under the notification, a 13 per cent profit will be paid on the opening balance for deposits of up to Tk 15 lakh, 12 per cent for deposits between Tk 15 lakh and Tk 30 lakh, and 11 per cent for deposits above Tk 30 lakh.

The notification was issued by the Finance Division of the Finance Ministry.

It said institutions under the CPF, including autonomous bodies and corporations, may set their own profit rates based on their financial capacity, subject to the prescribed rates being the maximum limit.

The slab-based profit system for GPF and CPF was introduced in the 2021-22 fiscal year, replacing the flat-rate system, and has been retained for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
