Woman killed as covered van hits motorcycle in Feni

A 30-year-old woman was killed after a covered van hit the motorcycle she was riding on in Feni’s Daganbhuiyan area on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Zobaida Akter, a credit officer at BRAC’s Daganbhuiyan office. She was a resident of Daktar Bari in Charlakshmiganj village of Sonagazi upazila in Feni.
The accident occurred around 11:30 AM in front of Ataturk High School Market in Daganbhuiyan Bazar on the Feni-Noakhali highway.
According to locals, Zobaida was travelling on a motorcycle with her colleague Nuruzzaman. When the motorcycle reached the area in front of the market, a covered van hit it from behind, causing Zobaida to fall onto the road.
She was run over by the covered van and died on the spot.
Police went to the scene following the accident and detained the covered van and its driver.
Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Faizul Azim Noman confirmed the incident and said legal proceedings were underway.
