254 more teen gang suspects detained in Cumilla

Cumilla district police have detained 254 more suspects in a fresh crackdown on teen gangs, bringing the total number of detentions to 878 across two phases.

All 18 police stations under the district police executed the joint drives from Saturday afternoon until midnight.

Earlier, police detained 624 individuals during a similar special drive conducted from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.

The drives targeted key crime hotspots and areas known for youth nuisance across the city and neighbouring upazilas.

Police are currently verifying the involvement of the detainees in past crimes before taking appropriate legal action.

Additional Superintendent of Police Md Lutfur Rahman confirmed that such anti-teen gang operations will continue regularly to curb juvenile crime in the district.
