Five more people died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,339 new suspected and confirmed measles cases were reported during the same period.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room on Tuesday.

According to the release, 1,255 people developed measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. From March 15 to September 29, the number of people with measles-like symptoms reached 190,519. During the same period, measles was confirmed in 21,392 people, including 84 new confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.

The DGHS said 168,655 people with measles-like symptoms had been admitted to hospitals between March 15 and September 28. Of them, 161,798 recovered and were discharged.

Five more people died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths among people with such symptoms to 1,003 between March 15 and September 29.

Meanwhile, 101 people with confirmed measles died during the same period. The combined death toll among confirmed measles patients and those with measles-like symptoms this year has reached 1,104.
