Detective Branch (DB) police detained three individuals, including a central leader of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), from Bishoykhali Bazar in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila on Wednesday (September 30) evening.
The operation was conducted around 7:30 PM at a filling station along the Jhenaidah-Jashore highway following tip-offs regarding a clandestine gathering aimed at planning subversion and anti-government activities.
The detainees have been identified as Tuhin Reza, 33, central vice-president of the banned Chhatra League; Sohag, 37, a leader of Dhaka Metropolitan Shramik League; and Saddam Hossain, 32, a Chhatra League leader from Naldanga Union in Jhenaidah Sadar.
Shariful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhenaidah District DB Police, confirmed that the team launched the raid based on intelligence regarding secret political meetings organized by banned organization members.
The three suspects remain in DB custody in Jhenaidah. Charges relating to anti-government conspiracy and sabotage planning are currently being processed, after which the detainees will be produced before a local court.
