Barcelona forward Raphinha is expected to be available for the club’s upcoming La Liga match against Getafe after medical tests found no new or serious injury to his right thigh.
Raphinha missed Brazil’s tour of India after suffering an injury during Brazil’s friendly against Australia. However, tests conducted by Barcelona’s medical team on Friday found no significant problem.
The 29-year-old has a chance to return against Getafe at Spotify Camp Nou on October 10.
Raphinha suffered the injury during Brazil’s 4-2 friendly win over Australia in Brisbane last Tuesday. He felt discomfort in his right thigh after a collision with an opponent and was taken off at half-time as a precaution by coach Carlo Ancelotti.
He was found to have slight muscle swelling, or muscle oedema, in the back of his right thigh. He subsequently left Brazil’s camp and returned to Barcelona to begin rehabilitation.
Barcelona had initially been concerned because of Raphinha’s previous injury problems. He had experienced discomfort in the same area four times last season. The club’s medical team also remained in regular contact with Brazil’s medical staff.
Raphinha has been in strong form for Barcelona this season, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in eight matches. His potential return against Getafe would therefore come as a boost for the club.
